Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time.
But, unfortunately, I haven't been doing any camping
since my last entry. Had some planned, but the usually
cool fall weather got too hot when I had my trip planned.
I'll try to post my yearly stats within another month
or so, but they won't be very impressive compared to
years ago. Old age and hot weather are taking their
toll on my ramblin’. Happy New Year to everyone and
hope you have lots of fun camping in 2024!!

Secluded CG in a beautiful State Park on the coast. 50
paved sites on level land in two sections in a canyon. Feels
more like a typical USFS CG, than a State Park one.
Loads of hiking available
along with a beautiful beach cove. Spectaclular scenery. You can even
hear the waves crashing at your site when the surf is big! Vault toilets. $25.
Decided I'd better do some camping again before I
forgot how. :) Still be awhile before I get back
on the road. Sixth time here (since it's only 5 mi from home).

Great boondocking spot. One of my favorite
in this area. It's on the edge of a beautiful meadow, with
great views of the forest and mountains. Creek
is a short walk and hidden in the bushes. Adjacent
paved road that leads to lakes and campgrounds results
in some daytime noise. $0.
Many others here inlcuding many skeeters!

Popular boondocking area visible from hwy. Main
area is a level, deadend dirt road with sites along
the sides. Good part time shade in most sites.
Nice meadow visible from many sites and a short
walk. Main downside is traffic noise from
hwy and camping traffic (ATVs, etc) on dirt road beside
sites. Overall a good spot and the price is right
at $0.
When I was here about 3 weeks ago, this area was
closed. Someone told me it opened about a week
ago. Signs warn of muddy road. I stayed in
a spot just before a muddy area I didn't want to cross.

Super nice boondockiing spot near CA89, but
far enough from it to barely hear traffiic. Amid
tall, tall pines. No other feasible sites within
my view, so I had it all to myself! Road in front
of my site had a few vehicles a day pass. Road
about 50 yards away the same. $0.
Third time in this spot. Unfortunately, USFS
officer stopped and told me it was not authorized for
boondocking (aka dispersed camping). Bummer!

Nice, good sized dirt spot beside the pavel road.
Some shade. Right where the small Carson

My 9th time at this great mid-sized bluegrass
festival. Try it, you'll like it. Out in
peaceful ranching land. Weather was a bit
hot, around 90F. Lots of good
music by national, regional and local acts.
I listened to the stage music and jammed with local
friends. My
daughter joined me for the festival, which made it even
more enjoyable. |
