Hi Ralph - love seeing all the reports and pictures on your boondocking stays, especially the most recent ones near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. That's one of our favorite areas. Next time we go back we'll start with the Jacob Lake FS CG, thank you for the report on that place, then scope out the boondocking West of 67 past DeMotte. Keep those reports coming@

Hi Ralph,
I saw your posting over at the RVnet and see that you will be coming back by the way of Hwy 50, we have taking Hwy 50 a few times and always like it.

Here are some CGs that we stayed at on Hwy 50.this last April.

Great Basin NP. your geezer card is good their, they have 3 CGs with water and several places to explore.

Cave Lakes SP. east of Ely Nv. water and dump, I think $20.00
In Ely, Nv. I saw several trucks and Rvs parked behind a gas station across from Mc Donald's in a field and I herd that it was OK for over night .

East of Austin, free camping at Hickison Petroglyph BLM area ( we stayed their and it was great ) also Bob Scott CG , may have water ( didn’t stop their )

Stayed at Wal Mart in Fallon, Nv. in 2007

Have fun and a safe trip. Jay

HI Ralph,
just checking in to see what you are up too and checking out the pictures.
Still a lot of fires in So. Oregon but they are gaining on some of them. Have a good time fishing and visiting with your cousin. Jay

HI! Ralph,
WOW! you are finding some nice spots to camp, love the Montana Beauty #3 picture from Deval Cr. CG.
A few weeks ago you were in hot weather and we were at the Oregon coast with 65+ weather, now we are at home with some bad fires north & west of us.
Several fires with a combine of near 45,000 acres the smoke is real bad that we stay inside, these fires are going to be with us for awhile at least until it rains.
Ralph, have a good time and I will be checking in to see what you are up too. Jay

HI Ralph,
just got back from the coast and catching up on your adventures. It's been hot here in the Rogue Valley but nice on the coast mid 60s.
We have been on Hwy. 12 Idaho to Montana and really enjoyed the drive, try to find a cool spot and relax.

Jay

Ralph, just found your blog and can't wait to dive in. Next May I'll be making a lot of your route in reverse on my blow-out retirement trip from Tacoma, WA to San Diego, CA. Been there lots on the 5, but this time I'm taking secondary roads and a couple of months. Only difference is I'm towing a 19' tt behind my F-150. I can hardly wait and will spend the next few months devouring your info. Thanks and Happy Trails. Kelly

We were following the same yellow lines yesterday afternoon. Mine was the Honda Element covered with progressive bumper stickers. We both turned into Minam area but continued on to Joseph for music when I didn't locate friends in Minam.

Have you done any of your performances at either of the Oregon Trail historic sites near La Grande? Outside Baker and then west of La Grande.

Sounds as if you have hit on a good life. I'm tied to a small farm but was getting away for two days of mountain air and music.

Happy trails. mary

HI! Ralph,
I see that you have been enjoying the bluegrass festivals, and getting to some different campgrounds.
I have been real busy around here and had to go to Roseburg to my sisters house to do some repairs for her, she is by her self and 80 so I need to help her out when I can.
We are hoping to go to the coast in mid July and get some good sea food ,do some exploring and kicking back.
Ralph, it's getting hot out their so go find a good cool spot and kick back. Jay :!sun:

Hi Ralph...hope you have a good summer. Will check in on your blog from time to time. Enjoy reading it. I keep telling myself that one of these summers I'm going to get to some of the campgrounds you post, but so far haven't made it.
Happy Travels
